Kashkar Cafe is a homestyle Uyghur and halal restaurant at 1141 Brighton Beach Ave in Brooklyn. The kitchen cooks traditional Central Asian food, and many guests say it is where they first tried Uyghur cuisine.
Favorites include hand-pulled laghman noodles, lamb kebabs, fried buns, steamed dumplings, shorpa and eggplant salad. Portions are generous and the room is decorated with Central Asian touches. The restaurant is BYOB and opens at 10 am daily.
